The Story Behind the Queen City Polo Cup
“When you arrive at the Queen City Polo Cup, you’ll see the beauty of the horses, the excitement of the match, and a community gathered in celebration. But for me, the heartbeat of this event began in a much quieter, more difficult place.
A few years ago, my life changed forever when I lost my child to a rare heart condition. It was during that period of my life that I met Greg Olsen.
Seeing the work Greg and Kara were doing through The HEARTest Yard—and knowing first hand what families face when dealing with congenital heart defects—sparked something in me. I knew I wanted to give back, not just as a one-time gesture, but as a lasting legacy for my child and for every family fighting this batt.”
Why Polo?
“I’ve always believed that Charlotte is a world-class city that deserves world-class traditions. I saw an opportunity to bring the sport our backyard, but with a specific Queen City twist: Polo with a Purpose.
My goal was to create an event that blends the excitement of a premier sporting social with a deep commitment to our neighbors. Since meeting Greg, I have been looking for the best way to support his mission, and the Queen City Polo Cup is the culmination of that journey.”
